Racing Strategy

We purchase medium priced 2 year-olds at the Ocala spring (April) 2 year-olds in training sale, horses that should be ready to race by mid-summer of the year purchased.  Our strategy is to find quality horses by new, young stallions, with excellent breeding lines that have had past success on the race track, but may yet be unproven in the breeding shed.

We also try to purchase a few select yearlings at the Fasig-Tipton public auction in Saratoga (August). Here, we focus exclusively on New York bred yearlings from high-quality stallions early in their stud career.  Our hope is to avoid excessive stud fees and inflated yearling costs, finding “lightning in a jar” from a younger, dynamic and perhaps not yet fully appreciated stallion.  These yearlings are a year or more away from their first race, but when ready will race primarily at Belmont Park, Aqueduct Race Track and Saratoga Race Course, taking advantage of the highly lucrative incentive awards on the New York Racing Association circuit for New York breds.  For more information on the New York bred program go to
